ChronoLedger is a free, browser-based text readability analyzer and word counter. Paste in your writing and instantly see your word count, estimated reading time, reading ease score, and estimated grade level — built to help you understand your text before you publish it.
Why we built it
Good writing is easier to read than it is to write. Before you hit publish, it helps to step back and see your text the way a reader will: How long will it take to read? Is it dense or easy to skim? Are your sentences doing too much work? ChronoLedger gives you a quick, honest snapshot of those signals so you can edit with more confidence.
How it works
Our tool uses established readability formulas — Reading Ease and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level — based on sentence length and estimated syllables per word, plus a simple 200-words-per-minute estimate for reading time. These are editing aids, not a guarantee of search rankings or audience engagement. Good readability is one part of good writing, not the whole story.
Our approach to privacy
We built this tool to run directly in your browser, so the text you analyze isn’t intentionally sent to or stored on our servers. No account, no sign-up, no friction — just paste your text and see your results. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
